Flambéed Fennel & Banana Topping

Ever tried flambéing over a fire pit? Try it now with this delicious recipe. Serve this topping warm over ice cream or use it on dessert nachos – just add some grated white chocolate bits as your ‘cheese’!

You will need:

¾ cup Fine diced fennel (approx 4-6 stalks)
½ Stick of salted butter
½ cup Granulated sugar
3 Bananas, sliced into rounds
¼ cup Tequila
Ice cream of your choice

 

In a large fire-proof skillet melt the butter. Add the fennel and sugar, and stir until combined. Cook for 5 min.

Add the banana slices and cook for another 5 min.

Add the tequila and with a match/lighter light the ‘steam’ coming from the pan to flambé the bananas.

Jiggle the pan to get the flame to spread to every part, then once it dies, scoop up your ice-cream and top it off with the delicious flambéed banana goodness! Enjoy.
