How to Clean the SearPlate™ Rim

After taking advantage of your SearPlate® rim capabilities and mastering the art of live fire cooking, you’ll find that your pancakes and burgers leave behind a residue on the rim of your fire pit. The best way to prevent grease buildup is to use a strong steel spatula with a sharp edge, and scrape off any remnants after every use and while the fire pit is still hot. 

This simple way of maintaining your fire pit will keep the rim clean and at its top performance and from a sanitation standpoint, the heat of the fire pit will kill off any bacteria and germs that may be on the surface. However, if you would like to have your SearPlate rim sparkling once again, here is your guide to making it look better than ever. 

Materials

There are 4 things you need to clean your SearPlate rim: degreaser (we use dish soap), abrasive pad, water, and paper towels. One thing to note is that your rim is made of 304 stainless steel, a highly durable steel that is used for kitchen appliances so, any other stainless steel cleaners will work, but we like to keep it simple and use ingredients we all have in our kitchen. 

Process 

Apply your degreaser around the rim of your fire pit and use the abrasive pad to scrub off any stains on the SearPlate rim making sure to clean in the direction of the grain.

After scrubbing off the residue on the rim, rinse off with a small amount of water and wipe dry with a paper towel.
